Recognising the Power of Social Impact in the West Midlands

iSE has been reconnecting with the incredible winners and nominees of our Social Economy Drive 2024, with our partner the WMCA. From the community first catering of ChangeKitchen CIC, to the upcycling vision of Jericho’s The ReUsers, to the wellbeing centred approach of Ways for Wellbeing CIC.

We highlight the changemaker Charles Rapson and the workforce development of QSEN Recruitment. The message is clear: the social economy is thriving and deserves more recognition to a wider audience.

Enterprises making measurable contributions to the economy, environment and community.

“If we are to double the size of the social economy in under 10 years, we are going to need more organisations like Jericho, QSEN, ChangeKitchen and the WMCA to keep supporting the leaders of these inspiring organisations. Part of our role at iSE through the Social Economy Drive is to amplify the fantastic work taking place.” – Drew Currie, CEO of iSE

Even if you’re a grassroots CIC, a purpose led founder or a business committed to social value, there’s a place for you in the growing social economy.

Why Does This Matter?

In a time where people seek meaning and values in everything they support, from where they work to what they buy. The social economy offers an answer. It combines purpose with profit. It centers people, not just products. It builds communities, not just corporations.

And recognition is key. Because visibility leads to funding, partnerships and ultimately, sustainability.

Let’s continue to amplify these voices. Let’s tell the stories that matter. Let’s show the world what the West Midlands is truly made of!
